For example, if you have a passion for painting, you will carve out time to paint, experience a great deal of happiness when you complete the activity, and may embody that passion in your understanding of your identity (e.g., you may consider yourself a ‘painter’). Embodying the activity into your understanding of your self-concept is one of the first steps toward laying habits (Clear, 2018).

You have lived through numerous life experiences, career/professional/vocational decisions, and family decisions.

1. God-centered Views
According to McKnight and Kashdan (2009), “the creation of goals consistent with one’s purpose may be critical to differentiating between real purpose and illusory purpose” (p. 249). Recent research also showed that it is better to have no calling than an unfulfilled calling (see Berg et how to create meaning in life al., 2010; Gazica and Spector, 2015), making it also a boundary condition that people follow through on this. The importance of following through was shown in a 15-week study aimed at finding out whether engaging in trait-typical behaviors predicted trait change (Hudson et al., 2018).
Selfless service is often discovered to be the ultimate pinnacle of having a meaningful life, and many intriguing conversations with service workers, nurses, aid workers, and volunteers illustrate how they enjoy a meaningful life by serving others. Older adults who regularly engage in their favorite pastimes and who have a healthy, positive relationship with their favorite activity have better psychological functioning. However, do not be unreasonable with your expectations of your environment.
What leads to meaning in life? And what do you do to create more meaning?
There are all sorts of little things that can provide meaning if you take the time to notice them. Here are some examples of meaningful situations that many people experience. Both happiness and meaning come from interacting with other people. For example, parenting contributes to more meaning but tends to contribute to less happiness.
